ARTIST STATEMENT
Denise Gu has undergone formal training and emerged as a JAA award finalist, recognized for her innovative design and exceptional craftsmanship. She believes in ongoing education, seeking to learn from masters of the trade to hone the age-old craft of metalsmithing and gem setting.
Denise's pieces are meticulously handcrafted and feature carefully curated gemstones, many from her personal collection. All LarNau Treasures creations are designed, made, and set by Denise's skilled hands, ensuring a personal touch in every piece.
Denise's studio is not just a workshop; it's a space that houses her artistic expressions alongside the presence of four cherished feline companions.
"I craft adornments that are intimate, enduring, and invite curiosity—a gentle nudge to pause and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
Jewellery should be both a work of art and give encouragement and be a reminder of comfort and joy. Something to be considered; to be enjoyed slowly while celebrating uniqueness and character just like each individual person.
My aim is to share the often-overlooked beauty within gems of character, using innovative techniques to create carefully considered pieces."
